How much franchising experience do The Franchise Company have?

The Franchise Company has over 35 years of successful experience in the franchise sector, supported by more than 110 years of combined in-house franchising expertise across the UK and internationally. Our consultants are seasoned franchise professionals, and as a company, we have worked successfully with hundreds of clients across a wide range of industries and business models.

Our consultancy conforms with BFA best practice and represents exceptional value for money for our clients. We provide a one-stop consultancy service that creates your franchise model, helps you recruit the first few franchisees, and then assists you in managing and monitoring your franchise network, ensuring growth is based on sound commercial principles.

What type of franchise consultancy do you provide?

We are experienced franchise specialists helping entrepreneurs expand their business models via franchising. Our individual bespoke consultancy packages cover every aspect and stage of the process, including franchise modelling, documentation, and franchisee recruitment.

How would you describe your approach to projects?

It is so important that we understand your vision and help you clearly define the goals and objectives you want to achieve from franchising to fulfil that vision. We also want to understand the business ethics and culture that franchisees will also embrace, and we would build those into your franchise model and brand values. We achieve the above by becoming part of your senior team, and that ‘hands-on’ approach is all part of the service and commitment we offer to clients.

Can The Franchise Company help my business?

Absolutely. We work with all types of businesses to guide them through the entire franchising process. Our team develops the franchise model, prepares essential documents including the operations manual, franchise agreement, and help you to launch your franchise opportunity to begin recruiting and onboarding new franchisees.

Can you help existing franchisors?

Of course. We have worked with established franchisors to help them improve their operating systems, franchise documents, recruitment strategies and generally improve franchise network performance as new franchisees join the network.

Do you work with the Not for Profit sector?

Yes, we do. We have supported numerous not-for-profit organisations to expand their operations through franchising. It’s a sector that has grown significantly over the past 20 years, and we’re proud to have contributed to its development.

Can you help me grow through international franchising?

Of course, we can. We can help you develop an international franchise strategy, including a master franchise or area development model. We also have active Franchise Company offices in Istanbul and Dubai that can provide ‘local’ support and advice for UK franchisors. We also have close working relationships with associates in Canada, Australia and the Philippines.

What’s the cost of franchising my business?

The cost of franchising your business model will vary, depending on its format and complexity. For example, a retail franchise model requiring premises will take longer to prepare than a franchise model operated from a home base. As a guide, most franchise projects require an investment from you of around £8,000 to £12,000 + VAT. We are fully transparent about our fees and provide every client with a detailed franchise development proposal, including our consultancy fees and other professional fees that are likely to be needed to ensure your franchise model represents a robust and attractive opportunity for prospective franchisees.

Will I recoup my investment?

That’s one of the main advantages of franchising—it’s typically cost-neutral. Most franchisors recover their initial investment after 12 to 15 months through the recruitment of their first few franchisees.

How long does a typical franchise project take to complete?

Project timelines also depend on the franchise format and complexity of the model. The more detailed ones, such as retail, take longer to complete. However, most franchise development projects are completed within 8 to 10 weeks from start to finish.

What does the franchise development project typically contain?

A typical franchise development project covers the entire business model being franchised, including the key performance indicators (KPI’s).  So a financial model, the franchise prospectus setting out the opportunity for potential franchisees, your recruitment and onboarding systems, a detailed operations manual, and the briefing document we prepare for a BFA affiliated lawyer to prepare your franchise agreement. A short virtual call is the best option for us to explain the importance of this stage of your franchise journey.

Will I need a franchise agreement?

Yes. The franchise agreement is drafted by a specialist franchise lawyer. We prepare the detailed briefing document containing all the necessary information for the lawyer, then liaise with you both to finalise the agreement.

Can you help existing franchisors with franchise recruitment activities?

We can. With our comprehensive franchise recruitment package, including planning, marketing and promotional activities, managing franchise enquiries, and guiding prospective franchisees through every stage of the recruitment process with you.

Can you provide digital systems to support franchise recruitment?

Yes. We work with Outward Digital, which has developed the market-leading FranchiseBase (www.franchisebase.co.uk). We can help you with its setup and usage to make your franchise recruitment process seamless. Additional support can come in the form of social media and website support.

Do you provide franchisee support?

We offer a range of franchisee support services, including mentoring, training and business planning.

Can I get free advice?

Certainly! We pride ourselves on providing lots of free advice and guidance to prospective franchisors to ensure they fully understand the risks and rewards involved in franchising, and especially the franchisor-franchisee relationship.

What if I’m not 100% sure that my business can be franchised?

Speak to us. We’ll provide an initial assessment of your business’s suitability for franchising and, if requested, complete a more detailed viability report for us to review first.
