Making Tax Digital – April 2026 – What Franchisors Need to Know Before
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT) is coming into force from April 2026, bringing a major change to how self-employed individuals report their tax.
If your franchisees are self-employed and earned £50,000 or more in the 2024/25 tax year, they will soon need to follow new rules around digital record-keeping and quarterly tax reporting.
Our guests for our next First Friday session on Friday April 10th 1pm-2pm are DT accountants who will look at what’s changing, who it affects, and how you can support your franchise network — without needing to become a tax expert yourself.
In this session we’ll cover:
???? What Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is — and why the rules are changing
???? Which franchisees are affected from April 2026 and the future income thresholds
???? What franchisees need to do to stay compliant
???? Quarterly reporting explained — what needs to be submitted and when
???? The digital record-keeping requirements
???? Practical ways franchisors can support franchisees without becoming accountants
By the end of the session, you’ll have clear next steps and practical guidance you can easily share across your franchise network.
