Melvin Lusty: From a £1 purchase to a £10 million sale

Our guest for this session is Melvin Lusty. Melvin’s journey in franchising is legendary – starting as a franchisee with Servicemaster in the 1980s he sold his franchise and bought the Rainbow International franchise network for £1 in 1990 from Mansfield brewery. Over the next 15 years he transformed the business from losing £1.8 million into a 30 million turnover business with a network of 130 franchisees before selling the business to ISS in 2003.

Since selling Rainbow Melvin has been involved in a variety of franchise brands helping them to grow and build their capital value using the tools and techniques that he developed and used with Rainbow. He has also been a board member and Chair of the British Franchise Association, an ambassador with the Princes Trust, a non-executive director with a number of different franchise brands, become a grandad and built a house in the Cotswolds. He’s a straight talking, incredibly hard working and inspiring individual who has largely retired from the franchising scene now and has agreed to come back and share his huge knowledge, expertise (and black country humour) with us for this once only event so don’t miss it.
